Get ready for a day filled with extensive shotgun information for home-defense. Controlling and manipulations the home defense shotgun during a defensive situation is crucial! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, this class is perfect for anyone who is interested in the house howitzer. Measure your skills to a carefully developed standard. You’ll have the opportunity to explore various techniques and tricks related to manipulating the shotgun. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, this event promises to offer something for everyone. What can I expect?
This class will provide you with a basic understanding of safe shotgun handling, responsible training methods, combative marksmanship & more. We will also provide time for questions, conversations, and more! There will be drills, demonstrations, and time for you to become more knowledgeable with your firearm. Competence creates confidence, confidence creates comfortability! At the end of this class you will leave with a more competent view of shotguns and how they work/run. We encourage you to continue your training and take our follow up shotgun workshops to better equip you for whatever your application is.
What to bring:
- 20 or 12 gauge Shotgun / Preferred, pump or semi-auto (Completely Unloaded before arrival)
- 150 rounds of 2 ¾ birdshot #71/2
- NO STEEL SHOT
- No Buckshot
- No slugs
- Eye/Ear protection
- Appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes
- Pen and paper for note taking
- Water, snacks, and anything else you may need while on the range
Recommendations on what to bring:
- Reliable pump or semi-automatic shotgun. ie 1301, A300, 870, 590 etc. (This class is developed for tube fed shotguns with a stock, no magazine fed, no bull-pups)
- Sidesaddle Shotgun mounted shell carrier (all drills are based upon what’s on or in the shotgun) (Recommend Aridus Industries or Vang Comp)
- Extra sidesaddles to switch out or “reload” during down times/relay switches
- A backup shotgun. (Just in case) everything on a shotgun breaks eventually, if you have a backup please bring it. If you don’t that is totally ok!
- If you have a belt, bandolier, chest rig, or butt cuffs, bring it! As a matter of fact, bring whatever you would like and we can go over the pros and cons of them together!
Prerequisites:
- Good attitude and an open mind
- Students must have a good understanding of safe gun handling and range etiquette

- This course will run rain or shine—please dress accordingly.
- Bring a packed lunch and snacks for the day, as there is no restaurant within a 30-minute drive of the range.

- When: Saturday, July 25th from 9 AM to 5 PM
- (Please be there at least 20-30 minutes earlier to get waivers signed and your gear set up before class starts.)
